Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.G. K. Chesterson

Two National Firsts
We believe we have good reason to lay claim to two unique distinctions:
Access to quality education for all children is a basic human right; continued inequality of education opportunity threatens our national security: “Provision of quality education is ‘the great liberator’ which - along with skills development - has the greatest potential to break the cycle of generational reproduction of poverty.” Joel Netshitenze
Professor Jonathan Jansen is on record as urging that “investors fund partnerships where key players work together to create the possibility of turnaround in public schools”. We are facilitators of just such partnerships, working with a host of local service providers like Operation Upgrade, Lunchbox Theatre, Creative Music, Footprints Dance Studio, The Field Band Foundation, occupational therapists and of course the WCED Circuit 4 Management Team.
Professor Jansen also urges that we “build the foundations of schooling in literacy and numeracy with investments weighted in favour of these lower levels rather than the preoccupation with senior certificate results”. We are doing that with the seven programmes we facilitate: Literacy Development and Mathematics Development which are underpinned by ECD School Learning Readiness and Learner Support; School Leadership and Management Development, Career Guidance and Preparation, and Afterschool Activities.
Our programmes are focused on building teachers’ professional capacity so that they are able to teach better, and on Bitou schoolchildren so that they are better positioned to learn both in and out of the classroom.
We Need Your Help!
Help us and our growing team of partners to level the Bitou education field and to give our children better options than dropping out - without hope or prospect of anything more than relegation to society’s sidelines. ‘The ubiquity of crime… the persistent levels of corruption and continued disrespect for human life, has its roots not in bad people… but in a stagnant education system.” Professor Jansen; together with our WCED colleagues and our partners we are committed to turning this situation around in Bitou. With an annual tax deductible donation to The Bitou 10 Foundation that can be as little as the equivalent of an average weekly grocery shop, or a monthly one, or more, you can help us change that by improving the quality of our children’s education journey year by year. You can be a vital player in the education solution. B10F is a Level 4 BEE contributor.
