Our Youth Development programme aims to develop and assist the youth at risk by providing initiatives which develop them emotionally, socially, mentally and physically.
The youth who benefits from this programme live in poor townships and rural communities in Bitou. The youth are faced with many challenges in their families and communities, including, high unemployment, poverty, malnutrition, alcoholism and addiction. Many youth have been abandoned by their fathers, lost parents to HIV/Aids or have illiterate/semi-literate parents or guardians. An alarming number of youth in Bitou are neglected, abused or exposed to domestic violence and there are insufficient local services for vulnerable children, youth and families in these communities. In addition, recreational facilities and youth development programmes are severely limited.
We believe that our youth development programme will significantly help to motivate, inspire and empower vulnerable and disadvantaged youth to take control of their lives and to make informed positive choices. This will enable them to break the cycles of poverty and abuse and to create a better quality of life for themselves and their children.
