Empowering Educators, Enriching Young Minds!

On 5 June, the Bitou 10 Foundation proudly hosted a Mathematics PLC (Professional Learning Community) session, bringing together Grade 1 teachers from all 8 WCED primary schools in Bitou for a dynamic and inspiring afternoon of collaboration and learning.
Led by the incredible Janette Jooste and Sooneela Naina (on behalf of the ever-creative Sjane de Wet), the session focused on group work activities and classroom games designed to spark curiosity and joy in early numeracy.
Each teacher received a resource pack filled with workcards compiled by Bitou 
10 and engaging games thoughtfully created by Sjane de Wet, Grade 1 teacher and Head of Department at Wittedrift Primary School. These resources are tailored to support group learning, because we know that young learners thrive when they learn together — sharing ideas, solving problems, and building confidence amongst their peers.
PLCs like this one are vital spaces where teachers exchange insights, strengthen professional practice, and ignite fresh ideas to bring into their classrooms. The energy in the room was contagious, with teachers expressing excitement and deep appreciation for the creative tools they took back to their learners.
