September 2026

Heritage is more than the traditions we celebrate today — it is the stories, languages, values, knowledge and experiences that we carry forward and pass to the next generation.

And that makes education an important part of preserving and strengthening our heritage. Through education, children gain the knowledge and confidence to understand where they come from, value the richness of the cultures around them, and take their place in shaping the future of our country.

Our children are not only the future — they are the next keepers of our stories, languages, traditions and identity. When we invest in their education, we give them the tools to carry that heritage forward while also creating something new for generations to come.

At the Bitou 10 Foundation, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and discover what they are capable of becoming.

Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity that makes South Africa who we are — and the young people who will carry our heritage forward.

Happy Heritage Day from everyone at the Bitou 10 Foundation!
